KABUL, Afghanistan - An insurgent-planted improvised explosive device detonated in the Zharay District of Kandahar province Sept. 11.
According to initial reports, an Afghan couple was killed in the blast and six of their children were wounded.
Four of the wounded children were brought to a coalition combat outpost for medical treatment. Two of the children were treated at the outpost and two were transferred to Kandahar Airfield for further treatment.
